Frequently asked questions
Does this include public holidays?
Not yet — it currently excludes weekends (Saturday and Sunday) only. For holiday-sensitive deadlines, check your local calendar after calculating.
Can I include the end date?
Yes. Toggle "Include end date" when your policy requires counting both the start and end dates in the total.
Is this valid for legal deadlines?
Use it as a planning tool, then confirm against your local legal or payroll calendar for official deadlines.
How many business days are in a year?
A typical year has 260 to 262 business days (52 weeks x 5 days), depending on how weekends fall. Public holidays reduce this number further, typically by 8 to 12 days depending on your country.
Does Saturday count as a business day?
No. This calculator treats only Monday through Friday as business days. Saturday and Sunday are excluded from the count.
How do I calculate a deadline that is 10 business days from today?
Set today as the start date and count forward 10 weekdays, skipping Saturdays and Sundays. This calculator does that automatically when you enter a date range.
Why are public holidays not subtracted?
Public holidays vary by country, region, and even employer. The calculator excludes weekends universally and recommends you cross-check your local holiday calendar for precise results.
How many business days are in a month?
Most months contain 20 to 23 business days, depending on the number of weekdays and where weekends fall. February typically has the fewest at 20.
Can I use this for payroll period calculations?
Yes. Enter the payroll period start and end dates to count working days. Remember to subtract any public holidays that fall within the period for an accurate count.
What is the difference between business days and working days?
In most contexts they mean the same thing: Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays. Some industries may define working days differently, so check your specific contract or policy.
